It has been 50 years since the Lamborghini Countach stormed into the realm of supercars with its wild Bertone-designed style, roaring V12 engine, and race-inspired chassis. In 2021, Lamborghini is bringing back the iconic name with the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4.<\/p>\n
Only 112 units of this model will be built, each combining Lamborghini’s most advanced powertrain technology with a distinctly Countach appearance. Although designed as a futuristic “descendant” of the 1974 model, the new Countach incorporates contemporary Lamborghini design touches, such as triple hexagonal LED taillights.<\/p>\n
This car features a shallow greenhouse reminiscent of the original black NACA ducts along the sides, along with the distinctive “Periscope” lines running from the roof to the rear deck. Additional retro features include trapezoidal housings for the taillights and deep side gills.<\/p>\n
The engine of the new Countach is a 6.5-liter V12 with hybrid assistance derived from the Sian hypercar. The combustion unit produces 769 hp, combined with a 48-volt electric motor contributing an additional 34 hp to enhance throttle response. The electric motor operates with a supercapacitor, providing three times more energy than a lithium-ion battery of the same weight. In total, the Countach LPI 800-4 delivers 803 hp to all four wheels through a 7-speed single-clutch gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km\/h in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 221 mph.<\/p>\n
Regarding its structure, the modern Countach uses a monocoque chassis and carbon fiber body panels, resulting in a dry weight of 1,595 kg. Carbon-ceramic brakes are hidden behind the uniquely designed wheels, and the car rides on Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.<\/p>\n
Inside, the Countach features 3D-printed air vents and a photochromatic glass roof, which can change from opaque to transparent with the press of a button.
