Naturally, this depends on business conditions being minimally affected by COVID-19-related restrictions, according to Ferrari.

Ferrari has not officially set a date for the Purosangue’s unveiling, but it is expected to happen in the coming months.

For now, we’ve only glimpsed the Purosangue prototype with extensive camouflage. Despite this, the spied Purosangue prototype with its production body was seen with a long hood, featuring a rather sleek SUV-coupe silhouette.

The Purosangue was first confirmed in 2018 and will be built on a new front-mid engine architecture that accommodates 2, 2+2, and 4-seater vehicles.

Ferrari states that this architecture is optimized for weight distribution and a low center of gravity. The architecture also supports V12 engines.

Ferrari remains discreet, but power is expected to come from a V6 or V8, with hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants available.

Ferrari could use the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the 296 GTB, combining a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor and a 7.5 kWh battery. The total system output is 610 kW.

The Italian automaker might also utilize the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the SF90, combining a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors and a 7.9 kWh battery. The total system output is 735 kW.

Regardless of the engine used in the Purosangue, it will be mated to a rear-mounted dual-clutch transmission.

Once on the market, its main rivals will be the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX, and Audi RSQ8.

Ferrari also aims to bring its limited-edition Daytona SP3 into production in 2022, with customer deliveries beginning in 2023.

Only 599 units of the Daytona SP3 will be produced, and they will be powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine mounted in the mid-rear, the same engine as the 812 Competizione.

This naturally aspirated V12 is Ferrari’s most powerful internal combustion engine, producing 618 kW and 697 Nm of torque. This power is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Following the Purosangue launch, Car Magazine previously reported that two fully electric SUVs, codenamed F244 and F245, will join the lineup in 2024 and 2026, respectively.

Ferrari is gearing up to put its first SUV crossover, named Purosangue, into production this year.
