For many semi-truck drivers, the cabin serves as both a home and an office. This dual-purpose often involves compromises, but Mercedes is attempting to counterbalance that with its Actros Edition 2.
The German automaker plans to build only 400 units of the Actros Edition 2, with the first one soon to be delivered to its owner. The company offers around 40 additional options for owners to choose from, providing a level of customization typically reserved for Mercedes’ consumer models. Okay, maybe it’s not that extreme. The company doesn’t provide a comprehensive overview of what’s available, but details about the first Edition 2 give an idea of what is on offer. The truck comes with leather on the dashboard and door handles, carbon fiber trim, and a roof hatch with ambient lighting.
Exterior touches include decals on the side walls with star designs, the “Edition 2” brand on the painted sun visor, four additional LED headlights above the windshield, stainless steel entry steps, stainless steel axle caps, and more. The three-pointed star of Mercedes is adorned in black and is illuminated, while the grille features dark chrome decorative elements. The dark theme also extends to the darkened edges of the headlights.
Mercedes offers the Edition 2 in two and three-axle variants with GigaSpace and BigSpace cabins, both available with steering wheels on the right and left. Standard features include the Comfort package, which includes a vanity mirror, LED ambient lighting, and a refrigerator. A Sight package adds bi-xenon headlights and an electric sunblind, while the multimedia package enhances the sound system and increases the number of charging ports.
Living on the road is challenging, but for those who do, they can bring a bit of luxury with them.
