After ten years of commercial use, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta bid farewell. The Tonale SUV will be its indirect successor, but it won’t be available until late 2021.

This leaves Alfa Romeo with only two models in its lineup, namely the Giulia sedan and the Stelvio SUV, to be embraced in 2021.

According to Italian sources, the final production of Giulietta, originally scheduled for January 4, 2021, will be a few days earlier. According to the Italian ClubAlfa, the production was halted on December 22, 2020, based on internal sources at the Cassino plant in Italy. However, the brand has not officially released the announcement yet. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the small MiTo helped Alfa Romeo survive the brand’s challenging years, but since 2012, due to the vigorous development of SUVs, the decline began to be significant.

The two revisions in 2013 and 2016 only kept the model alive but were not groundbreaking. In 2019, Giulietta sold just over 15,000 vehicles worldwide.

With the exit of Giulietta, Alfa Romeo will have to face 2021 with the Giulia and Stelvio SUVs. While Giulia lacks no quality, it operates in a market segment dominated by three major German brands. The Stelvio is undoubtedly another model with great qualities, but its market segment must contend with Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, and Lexus NX, among others.
