Considered dead and canceled, Apple’s electric vehicle has now returned to the scene with force.

After months of no updates, the Apple Car has reappeared and is closer than ever to seeing the light: this will be Apple’s biggest surprise in 2021. According to the “Economic Daily,” the Silicon Valley company aims to launch its zero-emission vehicles in September 2021. A truly surprising timeline, advancing the original plan by two years.

Meanwhile, a well-known source related to Apple’s car project detailed to Reuters that the company is advancing in autonomous vehicle technology for production, which may include the ownership of advanced battery technology.

According to the report, the battery of Apple’s electric car will have a “single-cell” design that increases the size of a single battery and frees up space in the battery pack by eliminating modules made up of many smaller batteries.

This means that more active material can be packed into the battery, potentially granting the car a longer range.

In addition, Apple is also considering the use of LFP or lithium iron phosphate batteries, which are not easily prone to overheating, making them safer than lithium-ion batteries. Regarding the car’s technology, it is expected to feature multiple LIDAR sensors for autonomous driving. These devices can be produced by external partners, and some of them may be manufactured from sensors already integrated into the iPhone 12 Pro.

Apple’s idea is to create an electric car for consumers, which is different from other technology companies opting for the development of autonomous driving technology for unmanned taxi operations.

It’s time to keep an eye on Apple, as it seems clear that its Apple electric vehicles are more active than ever.
