Citroen has updated the Berlingo range for 2021, incorporating more technology and streamlining the MPV lineup. The revised minivan will be available for sale in October of this year, with prices starting at $22,135 for the entry-level Feel variant.
The most significant update to Citroen’s Berlingo line is the addition of a new 10-inch digital instrument cluster in the more expensive Rip Curl and Flair XTR models. It replaces the old analog dials and provides drivers with the option to choose from three display modes.
The Berlingo’s old rotary gearbox selector has also been replaced with the same electronic lever-style unit found in the pure electric e-Berlingo. Citroen claims that the new selector is simpler to use than the MPV’s original setup.
Citroen has also restructured the Berlingo lineup, discontinuing the mid-range Flair variant. The special edition Rip Curl model introduced in 2020 has been stepped up to fill the gap, meaning buyers can now choose from only three specifications: Feel, Rip Curl, and Flair XTR.
Feel models come standard with 16-inch steel wheels, LED daytime running lights, manual air conditioning, and an eight-inch infotainment system. Buyers can also have the MPV in standard or long-wheelbase configurations, with the latter increasing the Berlingo’s seating capacity to seven.
Standard equipment for the Berlingo Rip Curl includes 16-inch black alloy wheels, black exterior mirrors, and Rip Curl decals for the front doors and rear lights. Inside, there’s a unique grey upholstery with a yellow stripe and white stitching, along with Rip Curl tags on the rear seats.
Inside, there’s the aforementioned digital instrument cluster, linked to a 180-degree reversing camera and dual-zone automatic climate control. Driver assistance technology includes active lane-keeping assistance, active safety braking, and traffic sign recognition.
At the top of the range is the Flair XTR. It comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, orange fog light trims, XTR badges, and lime green upholstery.
The Berlingo’s engine range is nearly identical to the previous model, starting with a 108 bhp 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol unit paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Above that, there’s a 128 bhp version of the same engine, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic.
Buyers can also opt for a 99bhp or 128bhp four-cylinder 1.5-liter diesel unit, both of which come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox.
