Everrati, an electric restomod specialist, has unveiled its latest creation: a fully electric version of the legendary Le Mans-winning Ford GT40.

It joins Everrati’s converted versions of the Porsche 911 from the 964 generation and the Mercedes SL Pagoda. However, these GT40s are not original conversions; they feature new shells and chassis built by Superformance, a company specialized in 1960s-era race cars.

Based in the U.S., Superformance has been producing continuations of American classics since 1994, under trademark licenses from holders such as General Motors.

The development of the electric GT40 is already underway at Everrati’s facilities in Oxford, where the company’s EV powertrain is being adapted to a rolling chassis provided by Superformance.

Justin Lunny, CEO of Everrati, said: “This is the perfect partnership. Everrati and Superformance share a single focus on iconic cars, and Lance and his team are the guys when it comes to licensed continuation chassis of some of the most legendary cars in history. Combining these chassis with our advanced EV propulsion systems and precision engineering will enhance performance while maintaining the essence and soul of the original. Our goal is to create the best electric cars for drivers and, at the same time, prepare these true masters of the past.”

Everrati’s electric Porsche 911 uses speakers at the rear of the car to provide a synthesized exhaust note, and a similar system is expected to be installed in the GT40 to emulate the thunderous V8 sound of the original.

Prices and further details for the electric GT40 will be announced later in 2021.
