With the firm purpose of promoting and strengthening good practices in the national automotive sector, a new and promising association of vehicle manufacturers’ representatives has emerged. Under the name United Group of the Automotive Industry of the Dominican Republic (GUIA-RD), this initiative stands as a bastion to promote the well-being of mobility users and catalyze the sustainable development of this vital industry.

This innovative guild brings together a prominent group of the country’s leading dealerships, representing some of the most influential brands in the automotive market. Among them are recognized names such as Santo Domingo Motors, Grupo Viamar, Magna Motors, Magna Seguros, Eco Motors, and Equimax. These companies are the exclusive representatives in the Dominican Republic of world-renowned brands such as BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai, KIA, Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki, and many others, offering a wide range of options for Dominican consumers.

One of the fundamental pillars of GUIA-RD’s mission is the coordination of efforts and the strengthening of cooperation with government agencies and other organizations related to the automotive sector. This involves serving as a solid support for authorities in creating contingency plans, especially crucial during interruptions in global supply chains that may affect the industry.

Wendy Capellán, General Director of GUIA-RD, emphasizes that the association will actively dedicate itself to studying, analyzing, and managing legislation relevant to the automotive sector in the Dominican Republic. Its objective is to propose initiatives that position the country at the forefront of global technical regulations in the industry, prioritizing environmental protection and user safety.

During the presentation event, held at the prestigious Sheraton Hotel in Santo Domingo, Aníbal Rodríguez, President of GUIA-RD, extensively detailed the mission, vision, and objectives of this organization. Accompanied by prominent members of the board of directors, such as Miguel Barletta, President of the Ámbar Group, and Fernando Villanueva, President of the Viamar Group, Rodríguez outlined the crucial role that GUIA-RD will play in the Dominican automotive landscape.

President Rodríguez expressed that GUIA-RD is born with the firm determination to become the benchmark and visionary association of the market. The values of integrity, transparency, honesty, collaboration, and commitment will guide all actions of the organization. Furthermore, the objective of stimulating creativity, progress, and professional training of personnel in both the automotive sector and related governmental institutions was emphasized.

On her part, Wendy Capellán added: “We will actively support the development of institutions dedicated to training personnel in the automotive sector in the country. Likewise, we commit to promoting compliance with the strictest standards of ethics, integrity, and professional responsibility in all activities related to the automotive industry of the Dominican Republic.”
