After discontinuing the Q50 Hybrid in 2018, Infiniti no longer has an electrified vehicle in its lineup. However, this is expected to change soon, as the Infiniti brand has expressed interest in introducing a variety of new electric models. Nissan currently uses the name E-Power in Japan, so it recently applied for the name “I-Power” (which suspiciously resembles the name E-Power). The “I” could correspond to the Infiniti brand, helping the luxury car manufacturer differentiate its technology from Nissan’s mainstream lineup.

The trademark filing provides no details about I-Power, but it gives a rough idea of what we can expect: “hybrid systems used in automobiles, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles (RV), sports cars, racing cars, and electric vehicles; wheel hubs; wheels and propulsion mechanisms for land vehicles.”

Registering this trademark is another step in the product launch strategy announced by the Infiniti brand at the end of 2019. At that time, the brand proposed a plan for a sustainable travel model, including 5 hybrid and range-extender models by 2022. An achievable goal within a year.
