The Wild Bull has donned its party hat. Eight years since Lamborghini commenced production of its V10 sports car, the Huracán, the brand celebrates the 20,000th exemplar rolling off the production line.

The 20,000th Huracán model is an STO high-performance variant finished in Grigio Acheso Matt, a matte gray color, and is destined for its owner residing in (surprise, surprise) Monaco.

The Huracán STO, or Super Trofeo Omologata, is recognized as the pinnacle of the road-going lineup and is propelled by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 producing 470 kW of power and 565 Nm of torque.

Lamborghini claims the Huracán STO can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds and has a top speed of 310 km/h. It’s worth noting that the power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels.

Throughout its sales tenure thus far, Lamborghini has offered 12 road-going versions and three distinct racing versions of the Huracán. Since 2014, 71 percent of customers have opted for the coupe variants of the Huracán, with the remaining 29 percent choosing convertible derivatives.

Over 60 percent of delivered Huracáns have also been personalized using Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program, which extends interior and exterior finishing options.

The United States has been the leading market for Huracán sales, accounting for over 32 percent of all Huracáns delivered in the past eight years. 2021 also set a sales record for the Huracán with a total of 2,586 units sold globally.

The latest Huracán variant revealed was the Tecnica, bridging the gap between the Evo RWD and the STO. Designed to serve a dual purpose as a road and track car, the Tecnica features unique front and rear bumpers, making it 61 mm longer than the Evo.

It is powered by the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 as the STO, producing 470 kW and 565 Nm, with power sent exclusively to the rear wheels. According to Lamborghini, the Tecnica can complete the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h.

Looking ahead, Lamborghini has previously stated plans to unveil its first fully electric vehicle in the second half of the decade. Earlier rumors suggested the first fully electric Lamborghini could be a 2+2 grand touring model, similar to the 2008 Estoque concept.

This electrification roadmap began with the low-volume Sián, which combined a 6.5-liter V12 and an integrated electric motor for a total of 602 kW. While most other road hybrid systems feature a lithium-ion or nickel-metal hydride battery pack, the Sián used a smaller, more energy-dense supercapacitor configuration.

Lamborghini claimed the Sián is capable of completing the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 2.8 seconds, or 2.9 seconds in the Roadster variant.
