When Lamborghini unveiled the original Urus prototype, many believed it would be a sacrilege for a brand with such a sports car pedigree to develop an SUV. Undeterred, the Italian company launched it in 2018, and since then, the data has proven them right.

The SUV has broken record after record for Lamborghini sales, becoming the brand’s fastest model to reach 20,000 units: it took only four years to reach that figure, whereas the Lamborghini Huracán took eight years to achieve the same milestone.

Aspiring to be the world’s fastest French supercar, the Urus recently achieved that goal, and to make it a reality, Lamborghini has already released 15 different versions.

The Lamborghini Urus is available in a single variant with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that produces 650 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 305 km/h. These figures are impressive, but they don’t crown it as the world’s fastest SUV; that title goes to the Bentley Bentayga Speed (306 km/h) and the Aston Martin DBX 707 (310 km/h).

The 20,000th unit of the Italian model features a Viola Mithras body color combined with a glossy black finish on both the wheels and brake calipers.

Lamborghini took the anniversary as an opportunity to share some interesting facts about this supercar. Firstly, it has become the vehicle through which most customers enter the brand: in the initial months of sales, 70% of orders came from drivers who had never owned the company’s models before.

The company also confirmed that most of its customers opt for the Ad Personam customization program, and the most popular exterior colors are Grigio Telesto, Blu Cepheus, and Viola Pasifae.
