Introducing the new Porsche 911 GTS, the latest mid-range model for 911 Carrera enthusiasts seeking performance without the traditional commitments of the GT3 model.
The 911 GTS is powered by an upgraded version of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine used in the 911 Carrera and Carrera S, boasting an additional 29 horsepower and 40 Newton-meters of torque compared to the latter. This propels the GTS to 473bhp and 570Nm, enabling a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph when equipped with a manual gearbox.
The engine sends power to the rear wheels through a standard seven-speed manual transmission, although an optional eight-speed dual-clutch automatic is available at no extra cost.
Chassis changes for the GTS model over the Carrera include stiffer springs, a 10mm lower ride height, along with new dampers and stabilizer bars. It is also equipped with new auxiliary springs in the rear axle suspension, aiding in keeping the wheels in contact with the road on bumpy surfaces to enhance grip and traction.
Similar to the previous Porsche 911 GTS, this new model adopts a more sporty appearance compared to the 911 Carrera. The body kit features a new front spoiler and lower front splitter, while other highlights include a new sports exhaust system and staggered satin black alloy wheels, measuring 20 inches at the front axle and 21 inches at the rear.
The car’s interior is nearly identical to the standard 911, albeit with some Race-Tex microsuede upholstery. Porsche also offers an optional lightweight package, reducing 25 kg from the car’s curb weight by removing the rear seats and incorporating a lighter battery and thinner glass.
Buyers will also receive Porsche’s latest PCM 6.0 infotainment system, preloaded with a virtual race coach and a database of 300 racetracks worldwide, featuring a lap timer and mapping for recommended racing lines.
