Mazda is taking a firm step forward in its electrification strategy with the launch of the new Mazda CX-6e, a mid-size electric SUV that will go on sale in Europe later this year. However, the model is not planned, at least for now, for the U.S. market. With an elegant design, a high-tech interior, and competitive figures, the CX-6e is aimed squarely at rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, the BMW iX3, and the Audi Q4 e-tron.
After arriving somewhat late to the electric car market, Mazda is picking up the pace to avoid falling behind. Following the debut of the electric sedan Mazda 6e, the Japanese brand strengthens its commitment with this crossover that combines design, efficiency, and advanced technology.
An electric SUV with Mazda DNA
The Mazda CX-6e, known in China as the EZ-60, was officially unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show. It will be manufactured in China thanks to the partnership with Changan Automobile, using the same architecture as the Deepal S07, though with a clearly distinctive visual identity.
The exterior design is clean, modern, and futuristic, featuring smooth surfaces, a continuous LED light strip at the front, and a sculpted rear that recalls models such as the CX-60 or the CX-90. All of this reinforces the premium feel Mazda aims to convey in this new electric phase.
Range, fast charging, and balanced performance
The CX-6e is equipped with a 78 kWh LFP battery, allowing it to achieve up to 484 km of WLTP range. While it falls short of the Model Y in this area, it remains on par with other direct competitors in the segment.
One of its strong points is fast charging, as it supports up to 195 kW DC charging, enabling a 10–80% charge in just 24 minutes under optimal conditions. In addition, it offers 11 kW AC charging, ideal for everyday use.
In terms of performance, it features a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 255 hp, with rear-wheel drive, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds—more than adequate figures for a family-oriented electric SUV.
High-tech, minimalist interior
The cabin follows the same restrained approach as the exterior, opting for a minimalist, digital design. A massive 26-inch panoramic display stands out, integrating both the infotainment system and the passenger display. It includes a multilingual voice assistant, Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto, reinforcing its technology-focused character.
Will it reach other markets?
For now, the Mazda CX-6e is confirmed only for Europe and China. In the United States, the brand continues to focus on plug-in hybrids, and there is no clear timeline for the arrival of a pure battery-electric model like this one.
If you are thinking about changing your car or exploring electric alternatives and next-generation SUVs, you can check out similar options and opportunities in the buying and selling of electric vehicles and SUVs on specialized platforms such as Yacarros.com, where you will find a wide range of offers aligned with new mobility trends.
With the CX-6e, Mazda proves it is ready to compete seriously in the electric SUV segment, combining design, technology, and efficiency in a model that promises to make waves in the European market.
