The latest offerings from BMW come equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine featuring M TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering an impressive 510 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque.

Power is managed by an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, channeling its might to the rear wheels as standard. However, starting in the summer of 2021, there will also be an optional M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Under normal conditions, the M xDrive system of the new BMW M3 Competition and M4 Competition Coupé directs power to the rear axle. In cases of traction loss, the electronically controlled multi-disc clutch engages the front wheels.

This translates to a blistering 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds on a paved road, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package. Moreover, DriveLogic allows the driver to operate gears using the gear lever or steering wheel paddles, or choose one of the three automatic programs.

In terms of aesthetics, aside from the controversial and sizable unframed kidney grille that takes center stage and adds a distinctive touch to the new generation, the model emblem sits proudly on the large trapezoidal air intake on the front bumper’s side, marked with the M insignia. The M forged wheels are available in 19 or 20 inches.

Inside, it comes standard with a 12.3-inch M instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, along with a dedicated BMW head-up display.
