Encouraged by the incredible success of the Porsche 962, a German tuning company (Koenig-Specials) decided to use this model as the basis for their street version, or as they say, a “road-going race car,” with astonishing results.

From Competition to the Street

Issimi released a video documenting the conversion process of three Porsche 962 models. One of them eventually ended up in the hands of a collector in Japan, who paid over a million dollars for it.

The car features a hidden six-cylinder, 3.4-liter engine under the guise of the Koenig C62, equipped with a twin-turbocharger and intercooler. It maintains the characteristic air cooling of Porsche and is equipped with Motronic fuel injection. In 2019, a power test revealed that this configuration can produce 550 horsepower. To adapt the Porsche 962 for street driving, Koenig-Specials equipped these three cars with a softer suspension system, a new braking system, and an updated exhaust system.
