Mini has recently released pricing information for the new 2022 Hardtop Oxford Edition, featuring surprising equipment levels and available in two or four-door versions.
The Oxford Edition is an evolution of the Classic trim, which received a refreshed design for 2022. It comes standard with 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, and a digital instrument display, along with electronic driving aids. It’s the most affordable Mini, but clearly not cheap in every sense of the word. Buyers have six exterior colors to choose from and can opt for black or gray wheels.
The Oxford Edition models share their transmission with the standard Hardtop Cooper. Power comes from a turbocharged three-cylinder, 1.5-liter engine producing 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. It drives the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Lightweight and agile, the Cooper captures the spirit of the original Mini.
The price for the 2022 Oxford Edition starts at $20,600 for the two-door model and $21,600 for the four-door model. In comparison, the 2019 models released in 2018 cost exactly the same, which is extremely unusual in the automotive industry.
Buyers willing to stretch their budget can opt for the Oxford Plus package, which includes a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a panoramic sunroof (two of the most popular options for the Hardtop) for an additional $1,500.
While the initial Oxford edition was initially reserved for college students and recent graduates, and later extended to military members and recent retirees, according to Mini, the 2022 model can be purchased by any buyer regardless of where they work.
