Subaru, the brand that wants us to love their cars as much as we love our pets, has now announced that they are selling a line of vehicle accessories for dogs and cats.
The items include a rear seat cover, a cargo area liner, a ramp to allow pets to easily climb into the back of a truck, a cat carrier, and a dog harness, among other things. There are a total of 11 items.
It’s a bit surprising that Subaru hasn’t done this before, given the emphasis Subaru places on dogs. The brand recently launched a marketing campaign called “The Underdogs,” for example, which encouraged people to adopt dogs with special needs from shelters.
Perhaps the most well-known Subaru and dogs mashup is the commercial series featuring a family of Golden Retrievers driving one of their cars. However, logically, none of the accessories from this series are aimed at canine drivers.
Even though the brand’s commercials show them behind the wheel, it’s not really a good idea to let your dog drive your car, even if it’s a Subaru, as dogs generally have poor driving skills, often lack a license, and most insurance policies do not cover canine drivers.
