The 2024 Audi Q4 E-Tron receives a series of changes, including faster charging, extended range, quicker acceleration, and redesigned driving and handling.

These changes, initially not expected until the 2025 model year, are incorporated into a new trim level, the Q4 55 E-Tron, replacing the Q4 50 E-Tron. The standard SUV and Sportback body styles are still available. All models use an 82 kWh battery with 77 kWh of usable capacity.

According to Audi, changes in the battery cell chemistry have increased the DC fast charging power from 150 kW to 175 kW, enabling a 10% to 80% charge in about 28 minutes under normal conditions. In addition to battery preconditioning, the Q4 E-Tron now also features post-conditioning, which cools the pack if it exceeds a certain thermal limit during charging or driving.

The estimated EPA range has also increased to 258 miles for the Q4 55 E-Tron SUV, 22 miles more than before, Audi claims. The related 2024 Volkswagen ID.4, which receives many of these improvements with a slight price increase, now returns up to 291 miles with rear-wheel drive or up to 263 miles with all-wheel drive.

The Q4 E-Tron models retain the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system but now have a new rear permanent magnet synchronous motor with enhanced cooling. The total system power increases by 40 hp to 335 hp, reducing Audi’s estimated 0 to 60 mph time by 0.8 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

According to Audi, the suspension and steering have also been readjusted to provide better driving response without sacrificing comfort. The Q4 E-Tron is also available for the first time with 21-inch wheels.

In an initial review, Green Car Reports found the 2023 E-Tron Q4 to be a practical and reasonably priced option among its peer set. However, a follow-up in colder weather exposed disappointing real-world range.

Prices start at $56,395 with destination for the standard 2024 Q4 55 E-Tron and $59,395 for the Q4 55 E-Tron Sportback. Deliveries of the updated models are expected to begin in April. This means Costco members can still take advantage of a $1,500 discount on Q4 E-Tron models through the end of April.
