This year’s Easter Jeep Safari event will be even more special. A fully electric Jeep Wrangler with a six-speed manual transmission will take center stage in the competition held in the Moab Desert, Utah.
The Jeep Wrangler Magneto is powered by an axial flux electric motor with 213 kW and 370 Nm, featuring an unusually low EV revolution limit of 6,000 rpm. This is because the motor drives the wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
According to Jeep, the transmission’s clutch “operates as it would with an internal combustion engine.” In situations requiring quick shifts, the electric motor enters a regeneration mode when the clutch is engaged to “prevent the dropping of revolutions.”
The car has a total battery capacity of 70 kWh, with four battery packs placed throughout the vehicle to enhance balance. Using an 800V electrical architecture, the Magneto should have impressive fast charging times, although Jeep does not provide specific figures.
We know that the Magneto has a 0-100 km/h time of 6.8 seconds. Based on the Rubicon specification, the off-road performance of the Magneto is enhanced by a 2-inch (51 mm) lift kit, 35-inch (890 mm) mud tires, and 17-inch black wheels.
During this year’s Easter Safari, there will be three other debutants: Jeepster Beach, Gladiator Red Bare, and Wrangler Orange Peelz. The Jeepster Beach features a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo with 254 kW/500 Nm, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 35-inch (890 mm) tires.
Its interior boasts red leather upholstery and the dashboard, consisting of the Wrangler’s current infotainment system.
The Gladiator Red Bare is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 with red paint contrasting with matte black graphics and golden accents. Clearly, it’s not a vehicle for the shy and reserved.
Meanwhile, the Wrangler Orange Peelz is a 3.6-liter V6, equipped with JPP half doors and a custom-made one-piece glass sliding roof.
