The Jeep Wagoneer S 2025 will arrive this fall in the United States, with other markets to follow, announced Jeep’s parent company, Stellantis, on Thursday.

The timing essentially aligns with what Jeep discussed when the Wagoneer S was first revealed in conceptual form in September 2022 as one of three electric vehicles slated for production, alongside the Avenger for the European market and the Recon, focused more on off-road capabilities.

While the Recon aims to be a sturdier sibling to the Jeep Wrangler, the Wagoneer S will be a more exclusive model emphasizing both on-road performance and off-road capability. Jeep promises 600 horsepower and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, as well as “off-road management” for off-road use.

The Wagoneer S also gives a new twist to Jeep’s traditional seven-slot grille with integrated lights, while presenting a more stylish shape than current gasoline-powered Wagoneer models. It will be built on one of the four dedicated STLA electric vehicle platforms detailed in July 2021.

For now, Jeep has focused its electric vehicle efforts in Europe on the Avenger EV, which has no destination in the United States (being approximately six inches shorter than the current Jeep Renegade, it’s likely too small for this market). Even with that, it has scaled back a bit on the scale of its electric vehicle intentions for the continent, with more gasoline Avengers assigned to that market.

Meanwhile, Jeep has not shied away from plug-in models. The Wrangler 4xe has been the top-selling plug-in hybrid for some time, and given how Jeep has been leveraging the federal “lease loophole,” also known as the Commercial Electric Vehicle Tax Credit, it has sometimes cost less than non-hybrid versions.
