A recently leaked image on Instagram and Twitter showcases the new aggressive look of the Toyota GR GT3 concept, raising speculation about its role in the growing Toyota GR lineup. The GT3 Concept features a long, low hood and a ankle-breaking splitter, accompanied by various flicks and vents expected from a GT3 racer.

There is no apparent direct connection between the concept’s style and the existing GR lineup, which includes the GR Yaris, LandCruiser GR Sport, GR Supra, GR 86, and C-HR GR Sport. The rear is dominated by a wing that is almost taller than the roof and spans the width of the tail.

Toyota states that it is a racing car designed to showcase “the knowledge and refined technologies that Toyota Gazoo Racing has acquired in the field of motorsports.”

The concept could potentially hint at a new entry for GT3 racing, as Toyota Gazoo Racing currently competes with a Lexus RC F without a strong link to the GR Sport brand. Running a heavily modified RC F V8 also doesn’t align with the recently announced plans to transform Lexus into an all-electric brand by 2035.

Alongside the GR GT3 Concept, Toyota will use the Tokyo Auto Show to reveal a more appealing GR Yaris. While Toyota has already followed the GR Yaris with a Rallye variant that includes more performance hardware, an additional upgraded version has been spotted during testing.

The “fully tuned” GR Yaris could bear the GRMN badge. The prototype seen at the Nürburgring featured canards on the front corners, large vents behind the front wheel arches, and glossy black details on the side sills leading into the rear fenders. A larger rear wing was also observed.

Expect more power and torque from the upgraded GR Yaris compared to the standard car, which produces 200 kW and 370 Nm from a turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine. All GR Yaris models are all-wheel drive and equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.

Toyota might enhance the dynamic capabilities of the GR Yaris by subtracting, such as removing the rear seats, insulation, or amenities to reduce weight. A report from the Japanese shop Car Sensor late last year suggested that the hotter GR Yaris could use a 220 kW tuning of the three-cylinder turbo, reportedly to be shared with the upcoming GR Corolla.
