Skoda has unveiled its Vision 7S Concept, showcasing a new design language and logo while providing a glimpse of a new seven-seat fully electric “family car” set to be available by 2026.

The Skoda Vision 7S concept is said to honor Skoda’s traditional values of robust appearance, functionality, and authenticity but presents them in a “completely new form.”

At the front of the Vision 7S, a new “Tech-Deck Face” features a reworked version of Skoda’s traditional grille. Compared to the current design, the new grille is significantly flatter and wider, with vertical stripes replaced by dark glass elements covering the car’s sensors. Skoda claims that the Tech-Deck Face contributes to an “even more refined aerodynamic shape.”

Beneath the new grille, seven vertical openings act as air intakes for the radiator and brakes. The central opening stands out in bright orange.

On the sides, the Vision 7S boasts aerodynamic 22-inch wheels, rear doors, and air outlets on the side sills that can open to extract heat from the battery or close to act as steps for passengers.

At the rear, T-shaped taillights resemble those of the next-generation Range Rover, featuring T-shaped headlights as well.

Inside, the Skoda Vision 7S concept introduces a new interior design with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, 8.8-inch Virtual Cockpit, augmented reality head-up display, two-spoke rectangular steering wheel, and an integrated child seat in the second-row center console.

In standard ‘Drive’ mode, the 14.6-inch touchscreen is vertically oriented, but with a button press, it can rotate horizontally as part of the ‘Relax’ mode designed for stationary use. In this mode, the touchscreen rotates, the dashboard physically retracts from passengers, front seats swivel inward and recline, and second-row seats also recline.

The infotainment system can be operated via smartphone in ‘Relax’ mode. The interior also features various ‘Simply Clever’ features, including magnetized phone holders in the second and third rows, backpacks that attach to seatbacks with magnets, and interactive door panels for finger writing.

The Vision 7S concept is finished in Explorer Green matte metallic exterior paint, with interior decorative elements also sporting a subtle matte metallic finish. Sustainable materials, such as recycled tire covers in the floor and trunk, synthetic leather on the dashboard, and recycled polyester thread in seat centers, door panels, and the dashboard, adorn the interior.

Skoda hasn’t provided extensive technical details about the Vision 7S, except that it is based on the Volkswagen Group’s modular MEB platform and features an 89 kWh battery pack. The Czech automaker claims the Vision 7S has a range of over 600 km according to WLTP tests and can charge at speeds of just under 200 kW.

The production car based on the Skoda Vision 7S will be one of three fully electric vehicles Skoda plans to launch by 2026. The other two electric vehicles include a compact SUV reportedly named Elroq and a small car recently showcased. Skoda also announced its goal for over 70% of its models in Europe to be fully electric by 2030.

In addition to the electric news, Skoda revealed plans to launch new versions of the Superb and Kodiaq in 2023, along with a “modernized” Octavia in 2024.
