On March 22, Subaru advised its dealerships to halt deliveries of its latest Outback model to customers as the company works with its headquarters in Japan to address an undisclosed issue.

Customers awaiting delivery of the Outback have been notified of a delay in receiving their new cars, with no specific timeframe provided.

“We can confirm there is a delivery stop on the 21MY Outback, which was communicated to our dealers on Monday night,” said a spokesperson for Subaru Australia to the media. “We expect the factory to confirm the nature of the issue shortly and will advise customers as soon as possible.”

The 2021 Outback was launched in February, and order books remain open. Prices range from $39,990 for the base model to $47,790.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing 138 kW of power and 245 Nm of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive. There are three trim levels available, but in countries like Australia, the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine offered in other regions is not available.
