Volkswagen unveils its new SUV, the VW Talagon, at the Shanghai Auto Show in China, which will be the largest SUV in the world to date.

Available with six or seven seats, this giant SUV measures 5.15 meters in length, 2.00 meters in width, and 1.79 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.98 meters. With these dimensions, it can be compared to American giants like the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade.

VW states that the exterior design aims to be a fusion of an SUV and an MPV. The front has a high and blocky shape, while the rear is softer with curved edges more reminiscent of a minivan. However, the real party begins in the Talagon’s interior. You’ll notice it carries the latest interior design language and technology from the German brand.

It features an intriguing floating element housing the gear selector and other important controls. We can see it is running the same new infotainment system found in the ID.4, and it also has a digital instrument cluster. Ambient lighting takes a central place from the front to the rear of the Talagon.

Even the captain-style seats in the second row are padded and adorned with contrasting color stitching. The attractive door panel designs adorn the first and second rows. Truth be told, this might be one of the best interiors from Volkswagen we’ve seen in a long time.

VW placed its turbocharged 2.5-liter VR6 under the hood of the top-spec model, paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. However, a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will also be available.
