Volvo más caro del mundo

There is no doubt that the Volvo V70 was a great vehicle with excellent quality and an engine with up to 240 HP. However, it hasn’t become what we might call a “classic.” So, why does the price of this Volvo V70 exceed 20 million dollars?

You probably won’t see anything special in the image of this vehicle, apart from its dirty and outdated appearance. However, its license plate, where we can see the name of the city “New York,” is not a standard plate but a truly exclusive personalized plate.

Personalized license plates are something that appeals to everyone. In fact, in some countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, or Australia, they occasionally change hands for large sums of money, sometimes even ridiculous amounts that only avid collectors can afford. This is one of those situations.

Since the 1970s, this license plate has been in the seller’s family, transferring from one car to another. Essentially, the owner got lucky and bought it from the state.

New York was the first state in the U.S. to require a license plate in 1901. It wasn’t until 1977 that New York began to offer fully customized options. Previously, although you could order special license plates, they could only contain up to three letters and three numbers. In 1977, the state began providing up to 6 letters, and by 1978, up to 8 letters.

However, a resident of the Big Apple successfully ordered the only “New York” plate in the city. That’s why it’s not surprising that this is the only legal “New York” license plate on the street that exists, and this is the first time it has been offered to people outside the original family.

Without denying the historical importance of this special plate, you should know that its use is strictly limited to New York because U.S. residents living abroad or residents from anywhere else cannot register their cars elsewhere. The positive point is that this coveted plate doesn’t necessarily have to continue being installed on the Volvo V70 from the late ’90s because it can actually be installed on any other vehicle.
