Choosing the perfect car is not as simple as it seems. You must consider the technical features of the vehicle, the engine that is most suitable for you, what you want to use the car for, and most importantly, if it is within your budget. Our sole purpose is to provide you with more guidance on your next purchase, and we invite you to join our journey: What type of vehicle interests me most for daily use?

If 99% of your use is in an urban environment, we recommend choosing a vehicle that can provide some electrification. The easiest option is to choose a traditional hybrid vehicle. It does not require charging, and its use is the most similar to a traditional vehicle. Opting for a plug-in hybrid car is a bit more complex but more expensive.

Finally, if you have parking, or can use a charging station at work, or live directly in an area close to several public chargers, we recommend an electric car. Over the long term, this is the option with the lowest operating cost and is ultimately more economical than hybrid vehicles.

On the other hand, if you need a car to go to work and perform different daily tasks (shopping or picking up children from school), then you are interested in a simple utility vehicle or a compact car. SUVs are also a good option, especially B-segment SUVs (like Hyundai Kona), but you should remember that they tend to be more expensive and larger than B-segment vehicles, so they will involve more expenses.

As for the choice of the engine, our suggestion is to choose a hybrid car. If your budget is limited and you cannot afford a hybrid car, a gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology is a better choice. Fuel consumption will be higher, especially in urban trips, but when using 100% of the city or covering short distances, the breakdowns that diesel engines usually suffer can be reduced.

For Traveling

Although electrification has developed to a very good level, unless you have a sufficient budget and can opt for a large electric vehicle (like a Tesla) with extensive range, diesel is still the best choice for travelers.

If you need space, you can opt for a family car (like Skoda Superb Combi), which has excellent internal versatility, comfort when traveling, and a large trunk. SUVs try to win over this type of drivers, and they will surely succeed with their support, but you should be prepared for higher consumption compared to cars with the same engine. This is because SUVs are larger, have worse aerodynamics, and are generally heavier. It is also possible to opt for minivans, but the truth is that they are becoming scarcer in the market.

Conclusions

The vehicle that does everything perfectly does not exist. However, the compact segment has more balanced cars. You can travel with them, accommodate up to five passengers, have a trunk, park with some ease, and are not expensive to buy and maintain. Again, the choice of the engine will depend on how you plan to use it. The simplest option is to choose a gasoline engine, but do not overlook the possibility of choosing the hybrid variant.
