Mini officially announced on Monday that the Mini Countryman Electric 2025 is set to arrive in the United States in the fall of 2024, marking a significant step for the brand in expanding its electric vehicle lineup. This follows the debut of the Countryman Electric earlier this month at the 2023 Munich Auto Show, where it shared the stage with a redesigned electric version of the classic Mini Cooper hatchback.

While the Countryman has been available as a plug-in hybrid, this marks the first time it will come with a fully electric powertrain. The new Countryman, standing at approximately 174 inches in length and 63.5 inches in height, is larger than its predecessor by 5.1 inches in length and 2.4 inches in height. The redesign also incorporates more SUV-style elements, featuring flatter body sides and widened fenders. While it may not be exactly “mini” in size, the Countryman Electric is positioned as a suitable crossover.

Mini’s press release did not delve into the specific specifications for the U.S. market. In Europe, the Countryman Electric will be offered in two versions: the basic Countryman E, equipped with a single-motor drivetrain producing 204 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, and the Countryman SE ALL4 with all-wheel drive and a dual-motor setup, delivering 313 horsepower and 364 lb-ft of torque.

According to European WLTP testing standards, the estimated range is 280 miles for the Countryman E and 269 miles for the Countryman SE ALL4. However, it remains unclear if Mini will adopt the dual-model strategy for the U.S. market, and the EPA ratings are likely to be slightly lower if implemented. The current electric model in Mini’s lineup, the Cooper SE, achieves 114 miles according to the EPA.

The Countryman Electric is expected to be available alongside the redesigned electric Cooper hatchback in U.S. showrooms, although Mini has not yet confirmed the release timing for the latter model. Mini has hinted at the development of a sporty Aceman EV, but that seems to be the extent of the body styles for now. Meanwhile, a convertible remains a limited-production reality in Europe.
