The California-based startup Humble Robotics has emerged from stealth with a proposal that could transform the transportation sector: the Humble Hauler, an innovative electric and autonomous cargo platform that completely eliminates the traditional cab.

This Class 8 vehicle is not a conventional truck, but rather a kind of intelligent powered trailer, designed to optimize efficiency and reduce operating costs in demanding logistics environments.

A new concept in cargo transportation

Unlike traditional semi-trailers, the Humble Hauler removes the cab and embraces a modular, adaptable design. Thanks to its universal twist-lock interface, it can be easily adjusted to transport different types of cargo, from containers to specialized configurations such as concrete mixers.

One of the standout features of the Humble Hauler is its Level 4 autonomous driving capability, meaning it can operate without human intervention in specific environments such as:

The initial prototype, developed in less than six months, is already capable of moving shipping containers from one dock to another completely autonomously.

Advanced technology for enhanced safety

The Hauler’s system combines next-generation sensors such as cameras, radar, and LiDAR, providing a 360-degree view of its surroundings. These work alongside VLA (vision, language, and action) AI models, enabling the vehicle to interpret complex situations and make real-time decisions.

Although Humble Robotics has not disclosed all technical details, it has revealed some key specifications:

  • Top speed of 55 mph

These features confirm that the vehicle is designed for short-range routes and internal operations, not long-haul transportation.

Behind Humble Robotics is Eyal Cohen, an executive with experience at companies like Apple, Uber, and Waabi, specializing in electric vehicles and autonomous driving. The startup has already secured $24 million in seed funding and is working with logistics industry leaders to launch pilot programs.

With this approach, Humble Robotics aims to lead a new era in freight automation, where efficiency, sustainability, and autonomy will be the key pillars of the future.
