Chevrolet confirmed on Wednesday that the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado RST First Edition, which is the top-of-the-line model and the first version of the Chevy electric truck available to individual buyers, is still available and will be a better deal than originally announced.

The Silverado RST First Edition will arrive “mid-year,” according to Chevrolet, at a price of $96,495, including the mandatory destination charge of $1,995, with an EPA-rated range of 440 miles with a battery pack that seems to be the same as the 205 kWh one used in the GMC Hummer EV.

When revealed, the RST First Edition was expected to have around 400 miles of range, arrive in the fall of 2023, and have an initial MSRP of just over $105,000, not including destination. So, the new price represents a $9,000 reduction, with some additional features included.

As part of the improved deal for waiting so long, Chevrolet now also includes a complimentary 19.2 kW GM Energy Powershift charger for those original reservation holders who placed an order. With GM’s expansion of bidirectional charging in its Ultium EV lineup, that could provide future home backup capabilities, akin to the F-150’s Home Integration System, but details haven’t been outlined yet.

The RST First Edition is equipped with a fixed glass roof and rides on massive 24-inch wheels. It includes all the model’s display technology, including rear-wheel steering, four-corner air suspension, adaptive dampers, and a 14.0-inch front display screen. There’s also a huge 17.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display and an 11.0-inch reconfigurable driver information display. As for packaging, it has a large cargo bed, and a center-gate configuration allows users to utilize part of the seating space as cargo space when needed.

The First Edition offers a version of the Wide Open Watts (WOW) performance mode from the Hummer EV, where it reaches up to 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque, good for a sub-4.5-second 0-60 mph time for this large truck. According to GM, the Silverado EV can tow up to 10,000 pounds, with a payload capacity of 1,300 pounds.

The Silverado EV RST also includes the ability to generate 7.2 kW of external power, ideal for camping or workplace needs. Chevy says this can be increased to 10.2 kW with an accessory power bar called PowerBase.

An expanded lineup of Silverado EV versions and variants is still expected. The Silverado EV was first shown in January 2022 and was touted to have a base model starting at $39,900. The base WT model, which Chevy originally suggested would offer a range of between 200 and 300 miles, was scrapped in the process, and the price increased significantly, to nearly $80,000 for a 450-mile WT setup that GM has been delivering to fleet buyers since last year.
