The Geely Xingyuan EX2, China’s best-selling vehicle in 2025, has received a major technological update to remain at the top of one of the world’s most competitive automotive markets. While its exterior design remains largely unchanged, the new upgrades significantly enhance its appeal against rivals such as the BYD Seagull.
With a combination of greater driving range, new driver-assistance features, and a lower entry price, Geely aims to strengthen the leadership of a model that has already won over millions of Chinese drivers.
More Technology to Compete in the Urban EV Segment
The biggest addition to the updated Xingyuan EX2 is the integration of the Geely Afari Smart Driving (G-ASD) system, an artificial intelligence-based driver assistance platform unveiled by the company earlier this year.
New features include highway-assisted navigation, automated parking, and the popular Sentry Mode, which allows the vehicle’s cameras to record its surroundings while parked. These additions bring the EX2 closer to competitors that already offer advanced driver-assistance technologies.
For those closely following the evolution of Chinese electric vehicles, these upgrades demonstrate the speed at which Asian automakers are developing new technologies and narrowing the gap with traditional manufacturers.
New Battery and Up to 298 Miles of Range
Another major improvement comes in the range department. Geely continues to offer the familiar 80-horsepower and 114-horsepower versions but now adds a new 47 kWh battery, larger than the previous options.
Thanks to this upgrade, the Xingyuan EX2 can now achieve up to 298 miles of range under China’s CLTC cycle, an impressive figure for a vehicle of its size and price. Although CLTC ratings are generally more optimistic than WLTP or EPA standards, the increase in range represents a meaningful improvement for users.
Fast charging has also been improved. The battery can now be charged from 30% to 80% in just 19 minutes, significantly reducing charging times compared to the previous generation.
A More Connected Interior
Inside, the vehicle now features the Flyme Auto 2.0 infotainment system, which includes support for Apple CarPlay, a feature highly requested by customers.
Geely has also introduced new wheel designs and two additional exterior colors, while maintaining the practical and functional approach that has contributed to the model’s commercial success.
A Price That’s Hard to Beat
One of the key reasons behind the Xingyuan EX2’s success remains its affordability. The entry-level version now starts at just $9,133 during a limited-time promotion in China, down from approximately $9,700 last year.
Even fully equipped versions with the larger battery pack and all available options cost around $14,000, making them highly competitive in the electric vehicle market.
The success of models like this highlights the rapid progress of China’s automotive industry. For those interested in exploring more electric cars and imported vehicles, specialized platforms for buying and selling electric vehicles provide access to the latest trends and models available on the market.
Geely Moves Fast to Maintain Its Lead
Despite remaining the market leader, the Xingyuan EX2 has experienced a slight sales decline of around 3% compared to the previous year. The constant arrival of new affordable EVs is forcing Geely to evolve quickly in order to maintain its position.
With this latest update, the manufacturer has shown that it has no intention of giving up ground. More technology, improved range, and aggressive pricing make the refreshed Geely Xingyuan EX2 one of the most compelling urban electric vehicles available today and a strong candidate for expansion into international markets in the near future.
